1st December, 2010 Be familiar with the new laws for existing pools in Queensland

On 1st December, 2010 new laws were introduced by all pool safety townsville pool latch the Queensland Government that require all existing pool owners to ensure their pool barriers comply with the new Pool Safety Standard.

All pools must now comply with the new standard within 5 years, unless the property is sold or leased beforehand.  Pool Safety Certificates (Certificates of Certification) are valid for 2 years for non-shared pools and 12 months for shared pools.

What does having a Pool Safety Certificate mean?

  • Obtaining a Pool Safety Certificate means you are a responsible pool owner.
  • Obtaining a Pool Safety Certificate means your pool barrier comprising fences and gates meets the new Queensland Government pool safety regulations.
  • Obtaining a Pool Safety Certificate means you are not at risk of fines or penalties for being non-compliant with the new laws.
  • Obtaining a Pool Safety Certificate means you have complied with your obligations in relation to renting or selling your property.
